Jalo-Win

Seeing that it's the eve before Halloween and I plan to have a night similar to that of The Hangover I just want to tell everyone that no matter how crazy the night gets, you always have to be safe! Don't drink and drive, don't smoke and fly and also, remember that (this I'll say and Spanish) sin globo, NO HAY FIESTA. Literally translated? There is no party without a balloon. What it really means? There will be no lovin' without a rubber.
What I'm trying to say is have a great time!! Have a Happy Halloween!

And Then There Were......

.... None.

I went to Camille Playhouse tonight to watch "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie and preformed by Camille Playhouse actors and I've got to say, I loved. I really did! It's been a while since I've done theatre since I did RENT last year, (which I had to drop out of for reasons I'd rather not disclose) in which I got the lead role, Roger. I thoroughly enjoyed watching some of my friends like Elizabeth and Michael preform on stage; seeing that preforming with them on stage as well, had never gotten the chance to see them live. I strongly recommend going and watching this play seeing that it's got all the right elements: comedy, a great cast, and suspense. I really did NOT see the ending come! I had it in my mind that it was someone else. I don't want to give too much away, all I can say is that you've got to go and check it out!!

Click HERE to check out the Camille Playhouse website! It is the ONLY community theatre in Brownsville and the director, Ben, is the best!

Hope you all go and get a chance to watch it!

Indonesia

Indonesia, a country in Southeast Asia of 237 million habitants and 17, 500 islands has been feeling Mother Nature's wrath these past couple of days. Yesterday, an earthquake that qualifies as a 7.7 on the Richter scale hit the western islands causing a tsunami to reach shore. The waves weren't as bad as the 2004 tsunami that hit Southeast Asia; reaching only about 10-feet. Nonetheless, the death toll is considerable. Later in the afternoon in one of the eastern islands, Mount Merapi started spewing clouds of hot ash.

All of these natural disasters urge me to ask the following: What is going on with the world? Is the Earth responding to the effects of global warming? Natural disasters seem to be happening more frequently and more violently. To a certain extent, are we to blame here?

What do you think?

So my friends have blogs and I like this. 7 years ago, I had a blog. A very stupid blog in which I shared too much and people took advantage of that so the fact that blogs are popping up everywhere is a kick in the balls to those who made fun of me. Suck it.
These are 3 of my friends who do very different things. I'll try to post new blogs of interesting people every couple of weeks. If you ever need the links of the blogs I follow, scroll all the way down. They're all listed here on my blog. Enjoy!

Taller Fotografico

J.J. CASE Part Deux?

So a while back I reported that I was working on my Spring/Summer clothing line; a high-end line of shirts for men. I'm trying to push the limits of what's acceptable for guys to wear. Nothing too crazy, don't get me wrong! I actually don't even know if people will like it; which is the most terrifying thing of it all.

When you put a part of yourself, like I do here on this blog, out into the world for others to judge and take apart for entertainment, there is a certain type of insecurity that builds up in you. The same applies to a musician performing his music in front of an audience or an architect displaying his mock-up of a building he is designing. Will people like it? Will people read it? What will they get from it or will I end up upsetting (pissing) people off?

Anyhow, I'll get deep later. This week I've devoted myself to buying all the things I need to start working on my line. That little mannequin thing that they use on Project Runway, ruler, new charcoal pencils, the works!! When I get all those things, I plan to devote my time next week to buying fabrics! I can't wait! I'll make sure I document every step of the way you know, just for your viewing pleasure.

POCKET

As I spend today's afternoon "working" at Pocket helping my friend K out, I am surprised at how annoying kids are these days. They have a complete disregard for anything other than themselves and they have no R-E-S-P-E-C-T for their elders and for those who are working. I hope that whenever I have kids, they learn to shut the hell up when an adult is speaking to you and be courteous to those in the Customer Service industry (e.g. The shoe lady at Dillard's).
I myself have been an a-hole to a few Customer Service people. I will refer to them as VICTIMS. Because really? That's what they are. Although, I only justify screaming or overworking said victims if they don't do their jobs OR if they are a little bitch. You know it and I know it; we all have gotten that lady at Neiman or at your local store that thinks she's all that. Only in these cases it may apply.
Anyhow, BACK to my main point! Has youth these days gotten brattier? Our generation was something but we KNEW to respect elders and others. I'm sitting here, looking out at these kids and I'm shocked! Utterly and completely shocked.

Someone needs to smack some sense into these kids. I nominate myself.

     What do you people think?

A No Ying.

This week had been particularly fun for me because I told myself I would find the Top 10 things that  I find frustrate me the most and/or make me look like a fool throughout my everyday life. Simple things. Stupid things. Insignificant things. But annoying nonetheless. Let's see if you can relate. Here they are, in no particular order:

10 - Pushing a door when it says pull.
Not only are you left looking like a damn fool but you feel stupid. Especially when you look around and you see someone laughing and pointing in your direction.

9 - Trying to open a car door while someone is unlocking it for you and it closes again.
A fairy pointless feat. It annoys both parties involved and it is a hassle. Not to mention someone always ends up screaming at the other party involved.

8 - Talking on the phone and not realizing the other person hung up already.
A personal fail seeing that, like #10, you turn around and see if someone was watching BUT, no one can tell if you're talking to yourself anyway.

7 - Soda can exploding.
You're left in a sticky situation. Enough said.

6 - Looking for something that is either in your hand, pocket or persona.
Example? Keys, glasses, lighter, whatever you can imagine.

5 - Driving and missing an exit.
Because really? Missing an exit you take everyday is just plain sad. For example! Here in town, we know the exit to 802 leads to grand places like Starbucks and Lacks so, when I miss said exit when I am in dire need for coffee, I get cranky and feel like a fool.

4 - Television.
I have a flat-screen in my bedroom and it annoys me so when I can't turn it on. You press power, it turn on yet the screen stays black. You press power again thinking it's off but it makes a "click!!" sound and you know power has been cut. So on and so forth. This could go on forever.

3 - Screaming at John when his name is really Dave.
Ever got someones' name wrong? Someones' name you know you SHOULDN'T  get wrong because of 13 previous introductions? Or, when you scream their name at the mall and they don't turn around? You look like the nut-case that just screamed for no reason.

2 - Expelling any form of gas or air from your carbon-based life form.
Sneezing, coughing and flatulence are included in the above mentioned category. Because really? Passing gas in church is not saintly.

1- Jamming out in the car and the music ends abruptly.
Because there is nothing more embarrassing than screaming your lungs out to Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" in the back seat to have you pal in the pilot/co-pilot seat change the station.

Purple Spirit

As many of you know, today is a day that is dedicated to raise awareness against gay bullying. It's called Spirit Day and hundreds of thousands of people across the United States agreed to wear purple today as a sign of solidarity for those who have been bullied and those who also have been bullied to the point where they have committed suicide. There have been 6 gay-bullied related deaths in the U.S. in the past month or so. If that isn't a wake up call then I don't know what is.

Last night, I was having coffee with a friend of mine and she told me something that a friend of hers had told her, "Why aren't gay people completely out? I mean, it's not like there's anything wrong with it and everybody likes them." Sure! There's nothing wrong with being gay but there is more to it that what meets the eye. Not everyone is as comfortable in their own skin as others are.

Many of you may know I was a victim myself of constant and brutal bullying for years and I find myself in a position where I feel an urge to speak up; speak up for those people I see myself in. Those who others find it easier to join the gang and make fun of instead of doing the thing that's truly harder and defending them.

As I see it, today is not only a day to raise awareness against gay bulling but bullying across the board. It's a day to help young people to help themselves. It's a day to give them a chance to be able to be themselves.

I pledge my time, talent and effort to do as much as I can to help reduce bullying across the board.
I vow to wear purple to day.
I vow to speak up.

What about you?

A _____ in boots.

So I've been asked why I haven't posted anything about fashion seeing that it's something I live and breathe. Here goes kiddos.

As far as I'm concerned, guys wearing jeans inside boots is something I love and been doing for years. I'm expecting to see this trend mucho this coming holiday season as it is hot with a double t and I can tell the kids on the block are loving it. After careful consideration and much time allotted to this issue, I can honestly say that there are only two guys I know can pull it off seamlessly and without a hitch. Care to guess who?
I strongly encourage everyone, you ladies included, to step out of your boundaries and try something new this year. I recommend Kenneth or Varvatos.

BAM!

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this is an issue that hits very close to home. I must say, as I begin to write this, I feel overwhelmed with emotion being that two members of my immediate blood family are affected by this horrible disease. As this month goes by, I encourage every single woman that reads this to take this very seriously seeing that 700,000 cases are expected this year alone. Breast cancer is the second deadliest cancer among American women. It is easy to get checked! There is a 98% survival rate when detected early. 1 in 8 women are likely to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. Check yourself and donate to any charity of your choice so we, together can help find a cure for cancer in our lifetime.

All the best, have a great week!

Tooth-less.

So, I may be the last person ever to see this movie but last night, in my boredom, I went and rented "How to Train Your Dragon," grabbed some Whataburger and proceeded to watch said movie.
As I popped it into my DVD player, I said to myself, "I hope it's as good as they told me." As the first few minutes go by, I got hooked and I've got to say, there was not point where I thought any part was boring or unnecessary.  It flowed perfectly and seamlessly. Thank you, Dreamworks! I absolutely LOVED the movie.

Needless to say, I think I squealed out of excitement more that any given person should at any time. Ever. I now want  my very own dragon ASAP. Preferably, Toothless himself. Kthanks.

BTW, If you HAVEN'T seen this movie, go watch it. Now. Consider it Homework. Case dismissed.

Pet Obesity Awareness Day.

Self Explanatory.

This is one of the happiest days of my life. I love me some chunky dog that may or may not be mistaken for a giant radioactive tick. I kid, I kid. :) No but please, be very aware of the health of your pets whether they be dogs, cats, pigs or turkeys! Actually, I take that back, fatten the turkey, Thanksgiving is next month! I KID! I kid. XD
No but seriously, please take care of your pets and yourself for that matter!

Cheers animal lovers!

Oh, Miss Molly!

One of my secret obsessions is the Travel Channel and today just so happens to be one of those days where you order a pizza or Chinese and stay in and watch TV so, I've been glued for a while now. It just so happens that I've visited a couple of these places and I didn't even know that they were haunted. Great! Here are 2 places that I thought were the most relevant.

Miss Molly's B&B on the outskirts of Fort Worth in the middle of the Fort Worth Stockyards is said to be the most haunted Bed and Breakfast in the country. It used to be a hotel called the Palace then, later, it became a bordello after tough times through out the 1940's. It is said to have full body apparitions and sightings all through out the building. Toilets flushing, lights turning on and off, all the usual symptoms. ;) The current owner is Dawn Street-Boyd; check out Miss Molly's website HERE!!

Oak Alley Plantation is located in Louisiana in the surrounding area of New Orleans and I happen to have visited the plantation a while back. It is one of the most gorgeous places I've visited with an "alley" of oak trees lining the entrance to the manor. It's a beautiful place and very popular for destination weddings. I personally want to get married there.
It is also said to be one of the most haunted plantations in the country. There has been two main families to have lived in the manor, the first and second wives that lived there passed away in the manor and are said to haunt the corridors of the building. It is also said that one of the wives, the first one, is always dressed in black and sometimes gives tours of the manor. When later, guests inquire about the woman in black, they come to find that there are no women that match that description working there.
I really don't remember if I saw a lady in black, I don't think I did but I do know that I sat on her favorite couch, the couch where she usually sits on. It's a green velvet couch in the second story hallway. Shitballs.
Check out Oak Alley's website by clicking HERE!!! Scroll all the way down to get the 411 on the Lady in Black.

Know any haunted places here in the Valley? Let me know, I've probably checked them out! More to come seeing that this month IS October.

21 Years and Yellow Roses.

21 years. 21 years is how long my parents have been married! Congrats Mom and Dad! I couldn't have picked better parents, seriously. I know there are many years to come! Los amo!

Gosh, can you imagine? 20 plus years! I want that! I'm not even remotely close to get married and I'm even further away from being in a relationship. I don't know about you kids but I totally see myself getting married sometime in the future.

(Photo from WholeBlossoms.com)

I'm pretty sure I'm a couple (and when I say a couple, I mean A COUPLE) of years away from my friends starting to get married and that freaks me out. I wonder who's walking down the aisle first? Any ideas?

TIZIANO

This, I have to write in Spanish. I'll be quick.

Escoje. :)

I love Kurt and so do you.

Glee last night was, in one work, remarkable. Chris Colfer and Miss Amber Riley stole the show. I love, you love and you can't deny it. I think I shed a tear (or wept) when Chris sang "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." I can't wait for him to get a boyfriend on the show, I can't wait till Quinn gets an episode, I wanna see many MANY other things happen. Mainly, Kurt get a boyfriend. When is that happening Fox? Make it ASAP or I will go crazy.

For any of you who hang out with me or see me on a daily basis, I'm SORRY in advance. There will be a lot of singing the previously mentioned song before. Brace yourself.

J.J. CASE?

Here's a rough sketch of what I'm designing for my S/S line. It's not much because I CAN'T DRAW but the image in my head is MUCH more rewarding!

It's a line of t-shirts! Since I'm not a fan of wearing dress shirts out on weekends like everyone else, I LOVE me some nice t-shirts.

This one in particular is burgundy in color with a champagne silk sash around the V that's cut out on the left shoulder.

Feel free to comment!

It's not all Black and White.

So, I've been gone for a while and that's probably because I've been lazy. :) Sorry about that crazy kids! I have had time to look over some things that I feel the need to post on here. One, being this gal Lacey. She is one tough cookie and she be smart! Check it out ya'll.

What do you guys think? Post and comment!
