The Perfect Storm

So apparently there is a massive, Kirstie Alley sized snow storm fanning across 8 states today in the Midwest. What the CRUNK!? Oh, and this little storm? Is being felt all the way down here and in poor, warm Florida. Did you know there are freeze warnings from east Texas all the way to Florida? You're kidding right Mother Earth? Then again, I feel that these massive storms and crazy natural disasters have been brought upon ourselves (Sri Lanka '04, Katrina '05 etc. etc.) BTW, temperatures in Florida are in the 20 degrees.

Anyhow, during this super-storm, even the Salvation Army has told it's volunteers to NOT go and open up their donation stands! You know that those people be super nice but crazy so for them to not show up? Is bonkers. To top things off, some Midwest malls are closing these past days! You know things are wrong when malls are closing two weeks before Christmas!

Hopefully Sunrise Mall won't close 'cause I need to go to work to get paid to buy presents. It's a vicious cycle people.

Merry Monday!

The Voice of Holland

Jennifer Ewbank. This _____ can sing like a __________.  I've been looking at her videos and my two favorite so far are the two songs that I love to death; Duffy's "Mercy" and her rendition of the classic "Hallelujah."

CLICK HERE TO HEAR HALLELUJAH  by Jennifer. It's something so melodic and sweet, I dare you not to fall in love with this girl and her voice.

YouTube Greatness!

I'm an avid, whole-hearted, huge FAN of YouTube and those who dare to share more than their words and insights with the world but actually share their talents, voices, face and other things. These following artists share with the world what some of us, myself included only do in the commodity, convenience and comfort of our home because isn't it so much easier to not subject oneself to the possibility of ridicule from others? I admire these chaps who open, to the globe, their life's guestbook for anyone to sign and judge. It takes bravery and real gumption to do that day to day with people you know so I give them props.

You may be asking where i'm headed with this? Am I to release a cover of one of my favorite songs on the World Wide Web? Well the answer is no. Well, not YET anyway. I am pleased to show you some of my favorite YouTube artists and their performances in no particular order.

1)  This is MIKE THOMPKINS. He is incredible! "Teenage Dream" and "Just The Way You Are" with only sounds from his mouth? Don't get what I'm saying? Check this kid out by clicking HERE!!!

2) Paul Dateh. This guy should have a reserved spot in the New York Philharmonic. He mashed current Top 40 songs into one by using a violin. Yes. A violin. See his greatness HERE!!!!

 I can't even play a kazoo...

3) Speaking of kazoo's!! Can you imagine playing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" on a kazoo? AND slide whistles! This guy? Did JUST THAT. Click HERE to see his awesome & funny (in a good way) interpretation of the greatness that is "Bohemian Rhapsody."

4) DJ Earworm made one of my favorite songs of 2010. I literally played the living daylights out of this at parties, my house, my car, you name it. The patience to edit something like this? Doesn't exist in any fiber of my being. Click HERE to listen to a coherent and major mashup of all of 2009's tip hits in ONE SONG.

Last but not least is one of my favorite's.

5) My last post was about him. Yes, I know. I just REALLY like him. THIS is the video that was (and is)  being watched around the world and catapulted Nick onto the Ellen show a few times and into 20 million views and counting.

Feel free to comment!

World Aids Day

Today is December 1st and it has been deemed World Aids Day. It is a matter that may not affect you directly but it affects are felt everyday all around the world. We must do something to help, even if it is something so small. $5 can buy a month of supplies for one person in Africa who is dealing with HIV/AIDS. We spend that much here on one trip to Marble Slab for an ice cream cone.

As you may or may not know, I am a Starbucks aficionado and this fine company has teamed up with Project (RED) to have a 12 days of Christmas shopping extravaganza! I encourage all to go into Starbucks any day from today on to December 12th and ASK what offers the have for that day (they change everyday). They have awesome stuff! For example, for one day, the have the "Buy one pound of Christmas Blend coffee and we'll give you a second one for free!" offer. I saw them yesterday and they're pretty cool. Go and check them out!

Thank the Lord that's O-V-E-R.

So as I see it, I have finally recovered from the curse placed on me by Thanksgiving and the HBS. It was a week of excess. Every pie in sight? I ate it. Every whisky served and poured into my glass was slowly but surely sipped and eventually downed entirely. That turkey was gobbled; no pun intended. Every single taco served to me after each party at around 3AM was devoured whole! As I sit here writing this after an extense workout consisting of hours of cardio and weight training, I weep. Yes indeed I weep for I think I may have consumed enough food and drink to sustain Luxembourg's economy for a month. My jeans? They still close. My gut? Pops out a bit more. I utterly refuse to be fat. Ever. You know what? I hear that they're making spanx for men now. I'll be right back

Did you have Happy Holidays?

H.B.S.

If you are a regular here on my blog you know that HBS stands for the Holiday Bingeing Season; a season that has begun several days back. Two days of going out already under my belt and countless Michelob Ultras ingested have made me and my tummy huge... with joy that is. Yesterday I was glad to see several of my peeps that I don't get to see often so that just adds to the excitement of this season.
Today, all I want to say to you crazy kids is to have a great time, be safe and like I've said before, if you're going to inhale your weight in food then afterwards? Hit the gym. Slobs can be beggers but can't be choosers. If that makes any sense.

Happy Stuffing!

Doughnuts

I don't know about you but I love me some doughnuts. Glazed. Chocolate. Jelly filled. Double chocolate? Raspberry glaze? My tush has died and gone to diabetic heaven!! Oh the joy I get when I walk into a store and select my favorites! I imagine leaving with my purchases and making sure that nothing happens to my prized possessions. I arrive home to open the box holding my solid form of ambrosia. And then I... I......

..... I tend to get carried away. You see, I feel that a doughnut is a little slice of heaven! Who doesn't like doughnuts?! Those who are saying "I don't" to themselves right now? Are lying. Liars. Blasphemy I tell you!
Did you know that the Travel Channel has a whole show dedicated to doughnuts? Its called Donut Paradise. Did anyone know about this? Why wasn't I aware that this magnificent program was in existence?! I've just finished watching it and I can't wait to see the next episode. In this episode, they mentioned two doughnut places that are fab and I have to agree.

1) Top Hop in Seattle. These are the doughnuts found in Starbucks across the country! Well, some of them anyway.

2) The Doughnut Plant in New York located on Grand Street on the Lower East Side. Dean & DeLuca and Whole Foods carry these delicious little treats!

Go. Check. Them. Out. Now. I'm off to Star to the Bucks to grab a latte and... well, you know.

Tootles,

Pilgrim Time!

As you all know, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and well, my fat ass can't wait. I officially dub today to be the kickoff of the holiday binging season. (For further references, I shall name it the HBS)
If this year is anything like the last, this season with be full of excess. Whether it be drinking, eating or inhaling my weight in pie, I love this time of year though at the same time I despise it so. It seems that this time of year my weight fluctuates. Hmm... I wonder why? Perhaps it's being pumped full of Long Island Iced Tea or bloated with mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. The outcome of HBS? A constant 1 hour (minimum) work out every day. Cardio, weights, the works. Perhaps I should contact my personal trainer again? He seems to whip me into shape quite well. Who am I kidding? He kicks ass! (Literally and metaphorically) As I write this the HBS is taking off with food already cooking in my oven and stovetop. Somebody send help... or cake.

Cheers

Anna Banana

Anna Wintour. Epitome of fashion. Mogul. Head of an industry loved by many. She is a true icon and a force in the fashion world. There is just one eennie bitty thing that bothers me. Why is she so obsessed with Blake Lively. OK, she's gorgeous but, there are many, MANY it girls out there and 3 covers of Vogue in year? Say what now? Like Perez said "How much is her publicist paying Anna..."? Is anyone else baffled by her many appearances in Vogue? September issue, February issue, Best Dressed issue... I mean. COME ON. There are so many other girls - and guys - that deserve that recognition. Agreed or disagreed?

So NOT Like Mike.

This will be short and sweet like a Carlos V bar. Michael Lohan? Let's put your ass in lockdown rehab and leave you there. All opposed? *silence* All in favor? *cheers* Then it's settled.

Have a nice, awesome, carb-free weekend. What i'm saying? Don't do what I did and inhale half a pizza in one sitting.

Animal Cruelty.

      Crocs.

Need I say more? It's not so much cruelty against animals it more like cruelty against us humans for having to see those things in every color imaginable.  I don't get these shoes. Are they comfortable? I don't know. When i'm playing Kings, and Never Have I Ever comes up, that's a question I can answer no to truthfully and with pride because I've never worn a pair. Yes, people have told me that they're the best thing since sliced bread but I rather, and I quote NeNe Leakes on this one, "pluck my toenails one by one" than wear Crocs.
The appeal of these shoes baffles me. They're not visually stunning so wearing them because they're "pretty" doesn't fly with me. They're made of rubber.
Let me say that again.
RUBBER.
Payless anyone? The fact that you can buy little flowers and bugs and penguins or I don't know what the heck to adorn these rubber clogs makes me cringe with fear, disgust and laughter.
To all of you who own a pair of these "shoes" I would like to know why? Comfortable? Probably. But so are my Kenneth Cole combat boots. Why don't you buy those!? Perhaps I will never get a straight answer until I myself, give in to this... trend... and try some on myself. I hear there's a Crocs sale on Boca Chica. These puppies are going for 5 bucks a pair AND you get a pair for free. For your FYI, you get what you pay for. It's the same thing when you pay two $25 cents for a margarita. The outcome? A hangover of every kind imaginable.

Thursday

And I'm off to work like a dog! God only knows why I'm awake at this unholy hour. As I woke up today, I realized how lucky I am! I have my health, family, a job! And everything I don't have? Will eventually fall into place. Anyhow, I just thought I'd start off my day with positive energy. Remember, put good out and get good back in. It's all about a balance. I have a feeling that my next post will be titled Fitness or Pre-Holiday Jitters. Something like that.

Shocking

So as I woke up today, I got two pieces of news that shook my world like an Indonesian earthquake. (Too soon?)

Une:
Paulina Rubio gave birth to a baby boy? When was this gal pregnant anyway?! I assume "La Chica Dorada" will be using her "golden globes" very soon. Good luck babe!

Deux:
A royal wedding? Kate a.... princess?! I've been staring at an old issue of QUIEN magazine every time I go to the toilet for months featuring Kate Middleton on the cover and a countdown to their wedding which wasn't even announced yet. This day is FINALLY here. Do you know what this means? Two royal British weddings in our lifetime! And Harry could be next! That would make trois! My obsession with European royal families has reached another level. I think this may become an unhealthy habit very soon.

For more info on Paulina Rubio's plopping out a child check out E! Online. There is a link on the right hand bar of my blog!

For the Royal Wedding? Google it. I'm sure that there are 4 million places you can find the 411.

Oh, Oxygen.

The Bad Girls Club is a piece of work; to say the least. 7 women, all with goals of their own. 7 women, DEEPLY disturbed. Disagree? Watch a preview. Those bitches? Are crazy. I suggest therapy for all!
I don't get this show at all! What's the concept? They're working out their problems? When?! How?! Where?! Between the bongs and Jell-O shots? With patron and a fab house? I would understand a fab house and a 24/7 lockdown with Dr. Phil for therapy but this?
As if that wasn't enough, there are spin-offs! For this show that features some of the un-classiest people I've seen on TV! Could they not contain all the ghettolicuousness in one show so they made two more?

1- Bad Girls: Road Trip!
I suspect that this show doesn't feature singing high school girls in search of the dream of fame a la Britney Spears in Crossroads but I'm not interested in finding out.

2- Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too.
Do I even have to say anything? Love? No. Solitary confinement? Where do they sign up!

      Dear Oxygen,
I understand that this high caliber show has given you major ratings and broken records across the board for you but come on already! I'm sure that there are better ways to do so. I understand the appeal of watching hot (ugly) women dressed in amazing clothes (rags) drink top shelf (Oso Negro) and end up beating the crap out of each other but if I really want that, I'll head over to El Chaparral. My suggestion? Perhaps a nice show with a mom with a great political career and a pregnant teen daughter? Oh wait, Sarah Palin got a show already. Never mind then!

Cheers,
J.Saenz

Fashion.

I don't know why we as a society are afraid to take risks when it comes to what we wear. Whether it be scarves, gloves, combat boots or stones, I always try to push the limits to what men can wear. It's safe to say that I am a risk-taker when it comes to fashion; I wouldn't have it any other way. There are some things that I believe no man should be without for winter:

1- A great fitting Trench-coat.
2- Great ties with bold colors.
3- One long scarf. Wool, cotton or cashmere are great choices.
4- Cashmere sweater; preferably in an amazing color. I say a cerulean or crimson.
5- Boots. High boots. Not cowboy boots.
6- A versatile blazer. Tweed is a great option!
7- Gloves. I say leather and the more color options the better.
8- Something white. No white after labor day? I say fuck it! Europeans aren't afraid to throw in white why are we? It livens an outfit with perfection. White pants with a navy blazer? Shut up! Just no white shoes none of us can pull of that look and looking like the old redneck from The Dukes of Hazzard? Not an option and it's just plain creepy. One more thing: I suggest a creme tone over a toilet paper white.

JLS

Gone like Doughnuts @ Jenny Craig

That's what I've been! It's been a hectic past couple of weeks. I've lost a family member to cancer, got a new job and had several other things going on in my life. I sort of have a new outlook on life. I've decided to keep my blog but as of right now no new posts will go up as I have no new events to cover.

Although, this coming week I will be at VINTAGE EXTRAVAGANZZA by Alessandra's Bazaar. Make sure you get a ticket before hand seeing that no tickets will be sold at the door. Contact me for any information about tickets or the event.

Jalo-Win

Seeing that it's the eve before Halloween and I plan to have a night similar to that of The Hangover I just want to tell everyone that no matter how crazy the night gets, you always have to be safe! Don't drink and drive, don't smoke and fly and also, remember that (this I'll say and Spanish) sin globo, NO HAY FIESTA. Literally translated? There is no party without a balloon. What it really means? There will be no lovin' without a rubber.
What I'm trying to say is have a great time!! Have a Happy Halloween!

And Then There Were......

.... None.

I went to Camille Playhouse tonight to watch "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie and preformed by Camille Playhouse actors and I've got to say, I loved. I really did! It's been a while since I've done theatre since I did RENT last year, (which I had to drop out of for reasons I'd rather not disclose) in which I got the lead role, Roger. I thoroughly enjoyed watching some of my friends like Elizabeth and Michael preform on stage; seeing that preforming with them on stage as well, had never gotten the chance to see them live. I strongly recommend going and watching this play seeing that it's got all the right elements: comedy, a great cast, and suspense. I really did NOT see the ending come! I had it in my mind that it was someone else. I don't want to give too much away, all I can say is that you've got to go and check it out!!

Click HERE to check out the Camille Playhouse website! It is the ONLY community theatre in Brownsville and the director, Ben, is the best!

Hope you all go and get a chance to watch it!

Firework!

So I've been obsessed with Katy Perry's "Firework" for the longest time and now, the video has officially been released!! I'm dying. It just so happens that I found it on my favorite blog (besides mine ;) ) which is Made In Brazil (I'm obsessed with Brazil too.) I literally teared up!! I LOVE this song.

I strongly urge you to check it out HERE!!

Indonesia

Indonesia, a country in Southeast Asia of 237 million habitants and 17, 500 islands has been feeling Mother Nature's wrath these past couple of days. Yesterday, an earthquake that qualifies as a 7.7 on the Richter scale hit the western islands causing a tsunami to reach shore. The waves weren't as bad as the 2004 tsunami that hit Southeast Asia; reaching only about 10-feet. Nonetheless, the death toll is considerable. Later in the afternoon in one of the eastern islands, Mount Merapi started spewing clouds of hot ash.

All of these natural disasters urge me to ask the following: What is going on with the world? Is the Earth responding to the effects of global warming? Natural disasters seem to be happening more frequently and more violently. To a certain extent, are we to blame here?

What do you think?

So my friends have blogs and I like this. 7 years ago, I had a blog. A very stupid blog in which I shared too much and people took advantage of that so the fact that blogs are popping up everywhere is a kick in the balls to those who made fun of me. Suck it.
These are 3 of my friends who do very different things. I'll try to post new blogs of interesting people every couple of weeks. If you ever need the links of the blogs I follow, scroll all the way down. They're all listed here on my blog. Enjoy!

J.J. CASE Part Deux?

So a while back I reported that I was working on my Spring/Summer clothing line; a high-end line of shirts for men. I'm trying to push the limits of what's acceptable for guys to wear. Nothing too crazy, don't get me wrong! I actually don't even know if people will like it; which is the most terrifying thing of it all.

When you put a part of yourself, like I do here on this blog, out into the world for others to judge and take apart for entertainment, there is a certain type of insecurity that builds up in you. The same applies to a musician performing his music in front of an audience or an architect displaying his mock-up of a building he is designing. Will people like it? Will people read it? What will they get from it or will I end up upsetting (pissing) people off?

Anyhow, I'll get deep later. This week I've devoted myself to buying all the things I need to start working on my line. That little mannequin thing that they use on Project Runway, ruler, new charcoal pencils, the works!! When I get all those things, I plan to devote my time next week to buying fabrics! I can't wait! I'll make sure I document every step of the way you know, just for your viewing pleasure.

POCKET

As I spend today's afternoon "working" at Pocket helping my friend K out, I am surprised at how annoying kids are these days. They have a complete disregard for anything other than themselves and they have no R-E-S-P-E-C-T for their elders and for those who are working. I hope that whenever I have kids, they learn to shut the hell up when an adult is speaking to you and be courteous to those in the Customer Service industry (e.g. The shoe lady at Dillard's).
I myself have been an a-hole to a few Customer Service people. I will refer to them as VICTIMS. Because really? That's what they are. Although, I only justify screaming or overworking said victims if they don't do their jobs OR if they are a little bitch. You know it and I know it; we all have gotten that lady at Neiman or at your local store that thinks she's all that. Only in these cases it may apply.
Anyhow, BACK to my main point! Has youth these days gotten brattier? Our generation was something but we KNEW to respect elders and others. I'm sitting here, looking out at these kids and I'm shocked! Utterly and completely shocked.

Someone needs to smack some sense into these kids. I nominate myself.

     What do you people think?

A No Ying.

This week had been particularly fun for me because I told myself I would find the Top 10 things that  I find frustrate me the most and/or make me look like a fool throughout my everyday life. Simple things. Stupid things. Insignificant things. But annoying nonetheless. Let's see if you can relate. Here they are, in no particular order:

10 - Pushing a door when it says pull.
Not only are you left looking like a damn fool but you feel stupid. Especially when you look around and you see someone laughing and pointing in your direction.

9 - Trying to open a car door while someone is unlocking it for you and it closes again.
A fairy pointless feat. It annoys both parties involved and it is a hassle. Not to mention someone always ends up screaming at the other party involved.

8 - Talking on the phone and not realizing the other person hung up already.
A personal fail seeing that, like #10, you turn around and see if someone was watching BUT, no one can tell if you're talking to yourself anyway.

7 - Soda can exploding.
You're left in a sticky situation. Enough said.

6 - Looking for something that is either in your hand, pocket or persona.
Example? Keys, glasses, lighter, whatever you can imagine.

5 - Driving and missing an exit.
Because really? Missing an exit you take everyday is just plain sad. For example! Here in town, we know the exit to 802 leads to grand places like Starbucks and Lacks so, when I miss said exit when I am in dire need for coffee, I get cranky and feel like a fool.

4 - Television.
I have a flat-screen in my bedroom and it annoys me so when I can't turn it on. You press power, it turn on yet the screen stays black. You press power again thinking it's off but it makes a "click!!" sound and you know power has been cut. So on and so forth. This could go on forever.

3 - Screaming at John when his name is really Dave.
Ever got someones' name wrong? Someones' name you know you SHOULDN'T  get wrong because of 13 previous introductions? Or, when you scream their name at the mall and they don't turn around? You look like the nut-case that just screamed for no reason.

2 - Expelling any form of gas or air from your carbon-based life form.
Sneezing, coughing and flatulence are included in the above mentioned category. Because really? Passing gas in church is not saintly.

1- Jamming out in the car and the music ends abruptly.
Because there is nothing more embarrassing than screaming your lungs out to Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" in the back seat to have you pal in the pilot/co-pilot seat change the station.

Purple Spirit

As many of you know, today is a day that is dedicated to raise awareness against gay bullying. It's called Spirit Day and hundreds of thousands of people across the United States agreed to wear purple today as a sign of solidarity for those who have been bullied and those who also have been bullied to the point where they have committed suicide. There have been 6 gay-bullied related deaths in the U.S. in the past month or so. If that isn't a wake up call then I don't know what is.

Last night, I was having coffee with a friend of mine and she told me something that a friend of hers had told her, "Why aren't gay people completely out? I mean, it's not like there's anything wrong with it and everybody likes them." Sure! There's nothing wrong with being gay but there is more to it that what meets the eye. Not everyone is as comfortable in their own skin as others are.

Many of you may know I was a victim myself of constant and brutal bullying for years and I find myself in a position where I feel an urge to speak up; speak up for those people I see myself in. Those who others find it easier to join the gang and make fun of instead of doing the thing that's truly harder and defending them.

As I see it, today is not only a day to raise awareness against gay bulling but bullying across the board. It's a day to help young people to help themselves. It's a day to give them a chance to be able to be themselves.

I pledge my time, talent and effort to do as much as I can to help reduce bullying across the board.
I vow to wear purple to day.
I vow to speak up.

What about you?

A _____ in boots.

So I've been asked why I haven't posted anything about fashion seeing that it's something I live and breathe. Here goes kiddos.

As far as I'm concerned, guys wearing jeans inside boots is something I love and been doing for years. I'm expecting to see this trend mucho this coming holiday season as it is hot with a double t and I can tell the kids on the block are loving it. After careful consideration and much time allotted to this issue, I can honestly say that there are only two guys I know can pull it off seamlessly and without a hitch. Care to guess who?
I strongly encourage everyone, you ladies included, to step out of your boundaries and try something new this year. I recommend Kenneth or Varvatos.

BAM!

Photo from beautips.info

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this is an issue that hits very close to home. I must say, as I begin to write this, I feel overwhelmed with emotion being that two members of my immediate blood family are affected by this horrible disease. As this month goes by, I encourage every single woman that reads this to take this very seriously seeing that 700,000 cases are expected this year alone. Breast cancer is the second deadliest cancer among American women. It is easy to get checked! Tooth-less.

So, I may be the last person ever to see this movie but last night, in my boredom, I went and rented "How to Train Your Dragon," grabbed some Whataburger and proceeded to watch said movie.
As I popped it into my DVD player, I said to myself, "I hope it's as good as they told me." As the first few minutes go by, I got hooked and I've got to say, there was not point where I thought any part was boring or unnecessary.  It flowed perfectly and seamlessly. Thank you, Dreamworks! I absolutely LOVED the movie.

Needless to say, I think I squealed out of excitement more that any given person should at any time. Ever. I now want  my very own dragon ASAP. Preferably, Toothless himself. Kthanks.

BTW, If you HAVEN'T seen this movie, go watch it. Now. Consider it Homework. Case dismissed.

Pet Obesity Awareness Day.

Self Explanatory.

This is one of the happiest days of my life. I love me some chunky dog that may or may not be mistaken for a giant radioactive tick. I kid, I kid. :) No but please, be very aware of the health of your pets whether they be dogs, cats, pigs or turkeys! Actually, I take that back, fatten the turkey, Thanksgiving is next month! I KID! I kid. XD
No but seriously, please take care of your pets and yourself for that matter!

Cheers animal lovers!

Oh, Miss Molly!

One of my secret obsessions is the Travel Channel and today just so happens to be one of those days where you order a pizza or Chinese and stay in and watch TV so, I've been glued for a while now. It just so happens that I've visited a couple of these places and I didn't even know that they were haunted. Great! Here are 2 places that I thought were the most relevant.

Miss Molly's B&B on the outskirts of Fort Worth in the middle of the Fort Worth Stockyards is said to be the most haunted Bed and Breakfast in the country. It used to be a hotel called the Palace then, later, it became a bordello after tough times through out the 1940's. It is said to have full body apparitions and sightings all through out the building. Toilets flushing, lights turning on and off, all the usual symptoms. ;) The current owner is Dawn Street-Boyd; check out Miss Molly's website HERE!!

Oak Alley Plantation is located in Louisiana in the surrounding area of New Orleans and I happen to have visited the plantation a while back. It is one of the most gorgeous places I've visited with an "alley" of oak trees lining the entrance to the manor. It's a beautiful place and very popular for destination weddings. I personally want to get married there.
It is also said to be one of the most haunted plantations in the country. There has been two main families to have lived in the manor, the first and second wives that lived there passed away in the manor and are said to haunt the corridors of the building. It is also said that one of the wives, the first one, is always dressed in black and sometimes gives tours of the manor. When later, guests inquire about the woman in black, they come to find that there are no women that match that description working there.
I really don't remember if I saw a lady in black, I don't think I did but I do know that I sat on her favorite couch, the couch where she usually sits on. It's a green velvet couch in the second story hallway. Shitballs.
Check out Oak Alley's website by clicking HERE!!! Scroll all the way down to get the 411 on the Lady in Black.

Know any haunted places here in the Valley? Let me know, I've probably checked them out! More to come seeing that this month IS October.

21 Years and Yellow Roses.

21 years. 21 years is how long my parents have been married! Congrats Mom and Dad! I couldn't have picked better parents, seriously. I know there are many years to come! Los amo!

Gosh, can you imagine? 20 plus years! I want that! I'm not even remotely close to get married and I'm even further away from being in a relationship. I don't know about you kids but I totally see myself getting married sometime in the future.

(Photo from WholeBlossoms.com)

I'm pretty sure I'm a couple (and when I say a couple, I mean A COUPLE) of years away from my friends starting to get married and that freaks me out. I wonder who's walking down the aisle first? Any ideas?

TIZIANO

This, I have to write in Spanish. I'll be quick.

Escoje. :)

I love Kurt and so do you.

Glee last night was, in one work, remarkable. Chris Colfer and Miss Amber Riley stole the show. I love, you love and you can't deny it. I think I shed a tear (or wept) when Chris sang "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." I can't wait for him to get a boyfriend on the show, I can't wait till Quinn gets an episode, I wanna see many MANY other things happen. Mainly, Kurt get a boyfriend. When is that happening Fox? Make it ASAP or I will go crazy.

For any of you who hang out with me or see me on a daily basis, I'm SORRY in advance. There will be a lot of singing the previously mentioned song before. Brace yourself.

J.J. CASE?

Here's a rough sketch of what I'm designing for my S/S line. It's not much because I CAN'T DRAW but the image in my head is MUCH more rewarding!

It's a line of t-shirts! Since I'm not a fan of wearing dress shirts out on weekends like everyone else, I LOVE me some nice t-shirts.

This one in particular is burgundy in color with a champagne silk sash around the V that's cut out on the left shoulder.

Feel free to comment!

It's not all Black and White.

So, I've been gone for a while and that's probably because I've been lazy. :) Sorry about that crazy kids! I have had time to look over some things that I feel the need to post on here. One, being this gal Lacey. She is one tough cookie and she be smart! Check it out ya'll.

What do you guys think? Post and comment!

Which is the gay one?

Can you tell? 'Cause I most certainly can't.  What do you think of the DADT (Don't Ask Don't Tell) policy? Please comment below.

MIA is not only an artist.

It also means Missing In Action! Which is exactly where I've been! MIA. Sorry kids, I went to San Antonio for the weekend and then I came back and I've been working on my new clothing line so, I've been a bit busy! I promise to update sooner, I've got a lot of things to talk about and BELIEVE ME, you want to know.

MTV VMA WTF

Apparently this year was Taylor vs Kayne reloaded because it seemed that every 5 minutes there was a clip or a picture or a reference or something that had to do with these two losers. To TAYLOR: Get over it. I liked your song, I did, I love you but come on! In the infamous words of funnyman Paul Thomas (@TRENDEH) "He took your microphone, not your virginity. Now to you KANYE, what the crunk? Give it up for the douchebags and assholes? You wrote an anthem for yourself? You just gave Kathy Griffin and Chelsea Handler a week's worth of trash to talk about you.

Anyhow, Lindsay Lohan made a little cameo at the beginning of the awards........ moving on. Iv'e got to say, being an uber-fan of Chelsea, I was excited that she was hosting but I do believe her opening was tough.

Gaga wore McQueen. Duh. I loved, you loved, don't lie. She won 8 Moonmans and cried like never before. I applaud her.

I think my favorite preformance was Florence + The Machine with "Dog Days Are Over." It's a great song!! If you haven't checked it out, do so ASAP.

It seems this year was freakier than ever. Whether it be Nicki Minaj looking like cotton candy or Will.I.Am looking like he wrapped a Hefty bag tightly around his face, I thought this year, as amazing the preformances were, was a little bleh. Compared to other years where star power is at 100%, I felt that there were SO many people missing this year.

What are your thoughts? Did you like the show or not?

Teenage Dream

Katy Perry did it again. She made me fall in love with her song. I like that this is completely different from her other singles. It has nothing to do with California girls, or kissing other girls or being hot or cold; not that I'm hating on THOSE songs 'cause I like them all. I'm totally digging it and the video in which she looks amazing in!

What do you think? Do you like the song?

Oh, Summer Where Art Thou?

So, summer is officially over. Fuck.

Well...... technically? Not really. I do live in a tropical climate so I get around two weeks of cold?

I actually am all for hitting up South Padre for some R&R on the beach. The problem? Who to go with!! I'm pretty sure that everyone that's reading this HAS been to the Island at least 100 times. It's part of our culture down here. It's 34 miles of white sand beaches and sunny afternoons! Ahhh! I would be out there right now if I didn't have stuff to do today.

Here's a picture of what you're missing; and what I'm missing. South Padre? I'll be seeing you soon. Promise.

APOETSMUSE on Perez

A friend of mine is obsessed with Perez Hilton so whenever she posts something on her wall or tweets an article that I find interesting, I check it out. ( I love me some Perez but these gals are crazy!) So I'm checking out Perez's newest post about his cameo on Tosh.0 ( Click HERE to visit the post) and I scroll down to see the comments because I love reading what other people put on these things. As I read the first few, I come across THIS:

"Oh Alejandro, it’s not just about the money honey. I’m not a papergangsta. I’m just starstruck with the fame. You know I love your Brown eyes and your perfect teeth. You know you leave me speechless when we dance in the dark. But in the end I’m so happy I could die. I don’t care if it’s a bad romance; I like it rough from my little monster. Yes the boys boys boys want to take me to disco heaven, but I don’t want a summerboy. The summer is all about the lovegame, and the beautiful, dirty, rich people. All I want to do is ignore my telephone and just dance, like a retro dance freak. I’ll ignore the paparazzi and give them my pokerface. Eh Eh nothing else I can say."

And THAT, is why I love Gaga. What do you guys think of the post above?

Metaforas de la Independencia

Today a friend of mine, Carlos Espino, announced he is presenting his photography this month of September and I could not be more excited! This guys is an amazing photographer and though I've know him for a small amount of time, I can truly say he is a great person and friend as well.

From what I've seen of his work, I've been completely fascinated. (I'm not just saying this so he can shoot me someday for free.) This presentation of his is taking place in Mexico. Makes sense since he lives there. It's about celebrating the beauty of being independent through the lens of the camera. Anyone who live close by should get around and make a visit, I'm sure it would be worth your while!

EMMY OPENING!

(Image may be subject to Copyright.)

So, the Emmys were this past weekend and I, being an avid fan of fashion I stuck to the TV like glue while the Red Carpet was on and during the Opening Act with an amazing ensemble with the likes of funny man and host Jimmy Fallon, genius Tina Fey, the Glee Cast, Jane Lynch, Kate Gosselin, a surprise appearance by Tim Gunn, (which I've got to say it made me scream in excitement) and other great members.

I've got to say, I thought  it was kind of unoriginal that they started off with a "Glee" themed opening, seeing that TV Land did something similar in their closing act earlier this year. I'm not hating on Glee, I am as obsessed with it as any other normal TV fanatic who likes to sing. Just clearing the air here people. Don't hate.

Smoking some Weed tonight.

Apparently, Weeds starring Mary Louise Parker is on again tonight. I've yet to meet someone who is truly obsessed with this show but I do hear it is a really good show. I saw one episode which I thought was pretty good, not gonna lie. I like Mary L.P. as an actress and she does a really good job. I mean, the woman didn't win a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress (Golden Globe for Weeds and Emmy for Angels in America) just because right? I guess I'll have to actually watch this season to see what the fuss is all about. I heard the family is on the run this season so that's going to be interesting and I also hear Alanis Morrisette is going to be guest starring this season too! All the more reason to watch right? Riiiiiiiiight..... What do you think? Are you a fan of Weed...s?

A Charmed Monday Morning

Good Morning everyone! This is the first post on my blog! Let me tell you a little about myself and what I do. I'm Mexican-American Texas born native who has a passion for fashion, (no rhyme intended) food, photography, wine, travel and many other things. I've got a quick witty and sometimes blunt and cruel sense of humor. Other people find it funny so, I stick to it. I've got to admit, I love to make people laugh. There is something about it that I find fulfilling.
Poolside @ South Padre
Anyhow, more on me later.  The point of this blog is to publicize me, my work, and what I do. I'm a casting agent, event planner, dancer, designer, stylist and image consultant. I work with people all across the Valley. I've been very lucky and blessed to have worked with some very amazing and talented people. E.g. Make-up Artists, Models, Photographers, Singers, Bands, Actors and Directors. I will be posting their work on here as well. For now, I leave with a photo and best wishes for a great Monday!

BTW, Charmed starring Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan is playing in the background while I type this hence, the title for this post.
